I've been surrounded by Wood Pigeons recently and even as I write this and look out the window, the trees in front of me are full of sleeping Wood Pigeons, I was curious as to what the symbolic meaning of these birds is.

The Pigeon is the totem of goals, focus and perseverance.  This unassuming bird holds the qualities of home, security and maternal instincts. Those with this totem have often experienced unsettling childhood's and are constantly challenged to find security and clarity in all areas of their lives. The Pigeon totem assists us to find the stability and home that has been lost to us in the past. The Pigeons gift to us is the ability to accomplish through our attunement with the nature. If a Pigeon has come to you, it's message is to set clear goals and to keep your sights and sensitivities focused on where you want to be. Do not be concerned with HOW you will get there, only how it will look or be when you arrive.

The other bird that I have been blessed to share my natural space with almost constantly at the moment is the beautiful, friendly and courageous Robin.

Robin's medicine includes understanding the power of song, happiness, guide in the wisdom of change, growth, renewal. The robin with its red breast and trilling song awakens us to the spring season. When robin totem makes its appearance you can expect new spurt of growth or a new beginning for yourself. This bird is associated with the spring equinox, reaffirming the importance of seasonal changes. The robin teaches us to move forward and try new things.
